an introduction to wedding photography with

Hazel & Jon

Jon and Hazel have a combined 30 years of experience in the industry, and would love to pass on the knowledge.  Learn all the tips and tricks they know about securing your wedding couples, what questions to ask in preparing for the big day, how to handle people at the wedding, tips for groups, what to do if the weather’s bad, and lots more.

I hold a City and Guilds qualification in photography and a diploma in Feature and Travel Writing from the London School of Journalism.

In 1999, I moved to Perth, Australia. Seventeen years later, I returned and settled back in the North.

I have 20 years of experience in weddings – this, coupled with my experience as an editorial photographer for a Western Australian newspaper, has given me a wealth of understanding and expertise I would love to pass on.

I have photographed weddings in different parts of the world, including Australia, Bali, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and the UK.

I am a documentary photographer capturing authentic and candid moments that cannot be staged. I write and have contributed to Shropshire Living Magazine, Hampshire Life, Lancashire Life, Lancashire North West Mag, North Wales Magazine, and various online travel magazines.

My work has been featured in Vogue Australia, News Limited, Perth Bride, The Brides Diary, Flourish Magazine, Finally at 40 Magazine, Perth Woman Magazine, and archived with the National Library of Western Australia, as well as Lancashire Life, Northern Life, Lancashire North West, Hampshire Life, and Wales.

My photography journey began in 2011 whilst studying Media Production: Television, Film & Radio in college, when I was asked to photograph a local band night, I borrowed a camera from the college and never looked back from there.

Photography has been a key part of my career over the last 14 years, from live performances and events, to product photography and of course weddings. When I’m not taking photos my working time is still firmly in the creative arena as the director of a Lancashire based Digital Marketing Agency.

Similar to Hazel I am a documentary photographer, prioritising natural moments over staged shots, I love capturing alternative angles that give the viewer a totally different perspective to that which they are used to. Complimenting this I hold a A2 Drone certification allowing me to include aerial photography within my work.
I have worked across the country in a range of wedding venues both as a lead photographer and a second shooter giving me a wide range of experience in various venues, conditions and scenarios, which I look forward to sharing with you.
